Charlie Wheeler is a paleontology professor who first appears in "The One With The Soap Opera Party". She is first seen with Joey but ends up with Ross because they have more in common.

IntroductionEdit

Ross first met Charlie through a meeting with her and another professor, both of whom were bemused when Ross responded to the other professor's arrival by loudly exclaiming "Dammit!" as he realized he would not be able to spend the day alone with the attractive Charlie. An opportunity for him to do this later came around anyway however, as both he and Charlie found the professor so boring socially that they abandoned him while he was in the bathroom, and then went to a soap opera party Joey had thrown, where Ross, while chatting with her, came to feel intimidated by the fact that she had many ex-boyfriends, all of whom had won awards. Ross eventually decided to ask her out on a date, but before he got the chance, he and Rachel saw Charlie kissing Joey. For a while, Joey and Charlie dated.

BarbadosEdit

When going for a speech in Barbados, Ross invited his friends and Charlie to hear his speech and lecture. While they were there, Ross and Charlie both found out that they had much in common, while she barely had anything in common with Joey. She broke up with Joey and later, she confessed everything to Ross explaining that she had feelings for him and that she believed they should be together. They began dating in the episode The One Where Ross Is Fine. In The One With Ross' Grant, Charlie is reunited with her ex-boyfriend Benjamin Hobart, who in turn soon meets Ross, who bemuses them both with his ridiculous comments throughout the following conversation. Eventually, Charlie realizes she still has feelings for Benjamin and he in turn still has feelings for her, and she soon decides to break up with Ross and get back together with Benjamin. Neither she nor Benjamin are seen again in the series after that.

TriviaEdit

• Charlie is one of the few characters who Ross got serious with while dating. The others were Carol,Rachel, Julie, Emily, Elizabeth and Mona. She is also one of the few women who Joey developed serious feelings for. The others were Rachel, Kate, Janine and Cecilia.
• Charlie was the last woman Ross dated before truly reuniting with the love of his life, Rachel in The Last One, Part 2.
