Janine Lecroix was Joey Tribbiani's roommate for a brief amount of time after Chandler moved out. Joey knew nothing about Janine when she moved in, making the decision based solely on her looks. When she came Joey liked her but was terrified that she was turning him into a girl with paintings of water cans and baby and flowers. Eventually Joey asks her to take the stuff away and she says she will but in the end, he likes them all and just puts them in his room.

Joey finds himself attracted to Janine but tries to repel her after his friends warn him not to because of the repercussions that could come from dating his roommate. Eventually he decides to try dating her but she says she isn't interested, even after he asks "How you doin'?". However, after a new years party she realizes she likes him and they start dating.

They soon break up however when after a night out with Chandler and Monica, she realizes she hates them as Monica is too loud and Chandler is "blah". She and Joey try to keep her dislike for them secret so when they are invited out for dinner, Joey tells Monica and Chandler that Janine is sick but unfortunately for him, Janine appears and apologizes to Monica and Chandler saying she has to go to her play. Monica and Chandler find out but they try dinner one more time, but as soon as Janine gets away from Monica and Chandler she begins to complain. Monica opens the door and yells "Aha!". Later Janine apologizes but insults Monica again so Monica chases her down the stairs and Janine and Joey break up.
