The seventh season of Friends aired from October 12, 2000 to May 17, 2001 on NBC in the US.

Season summary[]

Season Seven begins with Monica and Chandler over the moon after getting engaged, but even then a few things get in the way. As the happy couple attempt to plan their dream wedding, Monica discovers her parents have spent her wedding fund, Chandler's bonding with his new father-in-law doesn't go well, they struggle to take a good engagement picture, Monica worries Chandler will leave her, the couple cannot decide who should marry them (leading to a rather unexpected decision), Monica has trouble getting the perfect wedding dress, writing wedding vows proves to be a challenge and finally, Monica meets Chandler's highly unusual father.

Joey's new show Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E. isn't the hit he expects it to be and it's quickly cancelled, however he gets his job back on Days of our Lives (albeit, now playing a woman whose brain is transplanted into Dr. Drake Ramoray's body). He also manages to get a part in a World War I movie, causing him to almost miss Monica and Chandler's wedding.

Phoebe and Rachel's apartment is repaired following the fire, however they find the two bedrooms have been turned into one (it emerges Phoebe's grandmother erected a wall separating the two rooms). As a result, Phoebe starts living alone while Rachel remains with Joey. Rachel also gets a huge promotion at work, while also dating her attractive young assistant for a while (although the relationship fizzles out when Rachel finds she cannot get past their age difference).

As the season draws to a close, Chandler gets nervous about marrying Monica and the impact on their future, but ultimately the season concludes in a perfect fashion, with a huge bombshell dropped up at the altar...
