Monica's new boyfriend, Alan, starts hanging out with everyone. But then he gets invited to places with her friends that she doesn't. So out of jealousy, she breaks up with him, and this makes everyone else feel very down. Chandler resumes his smoking habit. Phoebe encounters a problem with her bank account, they give her $1,000. She complains and gives it away, but then she opens a can of soda and sees a thumb. So the soda company gives her $7,000.
